Evening Meal Cook

A bit about the role:

To cook a nutritious hot meal for the residents using the food resources available.

What goes on here?

Roffey Place is a short-term accommodation service, where the needs of each individual are assessed and supported. Individuals are supported to transition from Roffey Place to suitable longer-term accommodation that also meets their needs at that time. The service is for local homeless people who have suffered multiple and often prolonged disadvantages throughout their life.

As such residents typically remain in the service for between 6 and 9 months during which time, they are supported to develop the skills and networks to be able to live independently in the community.

The service adopts a multi-agency approach, with ample space and facilities to support this, including provision for organisations to work directly with clients and connect with one another onsite. A clinical room, counselling rooms, digital inclusions facilities and training rooms will support the delivery of therapeutic services, medical interventions and skills development. We also have a large kitchen for catering and training. This holistic approach to well-being empowers clients to develop skills and independence.

What will I be doing?

As an evening cook you will prepare and cook a nutritious evening meal for residents.

  • Prepare and help cook an evening meal
  • After dinner help clean the kitchen
  • Chat with clients
  • We have a minim of  2 volunteers per shift

What Training will I receive?

Every volunteer regardless of role will have their initial induction. The induction will cover Professional Boundaries, Safeguarding, and Equality and Diversity and you will be issued with a volunteer handbook and code of conduct. You will also have a site-specific health and safety site specific induction.  There will be a chance for you to ask any questions.
