In the past year alone, we’ve supported over 1,000 people in West Sussex. We've created spaces where people feel safe, receive practical advice, mental health support or even just a warm meal. For many, we’ve also provided the life-changing stability of a home.

Housing First is a vital part of our accommodation services. Unlike other approaches, it provides people with housing ‘first’ – a stable home from which to regain control of their lives and move forward.

“Housing First has given me a new lease of life – I’ve got long-term stability in a space of my own, which is like a dream come true.”

But transforming lives isn't easy. Furnishing a home with the things we all take for granted - a bed, a table, a pair of curtains - costs around £2,000. And these costs are rising.

This Christmas, you can make a difference:

👏 We love good news on a Wednesday!

The UK government has today announced nearly £1 billion in new funding for councils to prevent and tackle homelessness, marking the largest-ever investment in this area.

The funding will support initiatives like the Homelessness Prevention Grant, rough sleeping recovery programs, and services addressing substance abuse and housing support. This effort is part of a long-term strategy, including abolishing no-fault evictions, to address the housing crisis and end homelessness.

We welcome the government’s commitment to turn the tide on homelessness with this funding. As a charity on the frontline, we see daily the urgent need for housing support and prevention services. To truly end homelessness, we must ensure these resources reach those in need, alongside long-term strategies addressing root causes like affordable housing and mental health support. We are ready to work with our local councils to turn this funding into lasting change. 🤝⭐️

We’re looking for dedicated, forward-thinking individuals to join our Board of Trustees. As a Trustee, you’ll play a pivotal role in guiding Turning Tides' strategic direction, ensuring we continue to make a positive difference.

Experience in any of these areas would be helpful, but none are a requirement:
