Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals? Turning Tides is seeking a dedicated specialist Residential Substance Misuse Worker to join our Recovery Project team.

About the Role

As a Residential Substance Misuse Worker, you’ll play a vital role in helping residents achieve recovery, independence, and resettlement. Working within our dedicated residential service, you will provide specialist support to residents with complex needs, including substance misuse, mental health challenges, and histories of trauma. You’ll help clients develop skills for independent living, manage risks associated with substance use, and support them on their recovery journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Specialist Substance Misuse Support: Deliver tailored support and key working to residents with multiple, complex needs. Provide regular interventions, practical life-skills training, and support for withdrawal management.
  • Housing Management: Oversee resident inductions, tenancy responsibilities, and ensure health and safety standards. Assist clients with budgeting, benefits, and maintaining housing stability.
  • Resident Empowerment: Encourage a safe, respectful, and positive environment, helping residents take ownership of their personal and communal spaces.
  • Record Keeping & Compliance: Maintain accurate records, manage resident files, and adhere to all health, safety, and safeguarding protocols.

About You

We are looking for someone with –

  • Experience and Knowledge: A solid background in supporting individuals with substance misuse, mental health, or personality disorders within a residential care setting.
  • Empathy and Resilience: Ability to inspire clients to make positive changes, showing empathy while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Organisational Skills: Strong time management and ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work shifts, including unsociable hours, and occasionally support clients at off-site appointments across West Sussex.

Location:

Worthing, West Sussex

Hours:

37.5 hours per week, currently, we are in search of multiple candidates for this position.

Part-time flexible working would be considered.

Contract:

In this role, employees will be scheduled for shifts covering Monday through Sunday, with the potential to work some Bank Holidays.

Salary:

£28,137 per annum
